In December 2012, amidst the staggering jackpot of NT$18.16 billion in the Power Lottery, one of the three fortunate winners was a resident of Hualien. Driven by a childhood dream, this lucky winner selflessly donated NT$120 million upon winning the prize, establishing the “Hualien Taiwan Lottery Mighty Cup National Little League Baseball Tournament” to provide children with the opportunity to pursue their baseball dreams. This event has been held for a decade, not only offering a rare chance for urban and rural children to come to Hualien and enjoy the joy of baseball but also establishing Hualien as a cradle for nurturing professional baseball players.
